Bedroom Tax Vote Today

Bedroom_Tax.jpg

The Bedroom Tax is cruel, unfair and it isn’t working. That’s why Labour is committed to scrapping the Bedroom Tax if we win the election next year.

I have had many letters and emails recently about Andrew George’s Private Members Bill, which will be debated in the House of Commons today. This Bill seeks to exempt certain categories of household from the Bedroom Tax. It is not the full abolition that I want to see, but I feel that any relief we can offer to people now is worthwhile. That is why I will be staying in Westminster today to support the Bill.

No matter what the outcome is today, I will remain committed to scrapping the Bedroom Tax and it seems clear that only a Labour Government can follow this through.
