BINGO! A campaign success

DSC00957.JPG

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Mecca Bingo in Breightmet to celebrate the announcement that tax on the profits from Bingo has been cut from 20% to 10%.

Bingo has faced a greater tax burden than many other forms of gambling for many years and I have been campaigning to have this imbalance corrected.

I have seen first-hand that bingo clubs are a safe and enjoyable place for people to go and have a nice time. They provide good jobs up and down the country and offer people the chance to socialise where they might not normally be able to.

The number of Bingo halls has fallen by three quarters in the last thirty years but I hope those that are still with us will be able to reinvest in the industry and keep it going now that some of the pressure has been removed.

I’d like to thank Mecca for inviting me to call the numbers of a special “Bingo is Boosted” game, I know your players take the game very seriously so I hope I was able to meet their standard.
