National postal workers day

Bolton_(20).jpg

Monday, 12th December marks the celebration of National Postal Workers Day.

This is a chance for businesses and individuals to say thank you to those men and women who work all year round to sort and deliver the post.

I am proud to highlight the vital role played in our community by Postmen and Women. I send out hundreds of letters each week from my constituency office and without the postal service this important connection to my constituents would be lost.

I know that lots of local businesses depend on the post too. It is essential that we protect the universal service obligation, which guarantees deliveries to 29 million UK addresses, six days a week, 52 weeks a year.

For less than the price of a cup of tea you can post a letter in Cornwall today and have it arrive in Scotland tomorrow. It is a wonderful human and logistical effort that should be celebrated and protected.
