Update: Re-open Bolton's NHS Walk-in Centre

 SAM_0491.JPG

Next Friday (27th February) I will be meeting with Dr Wirin Bhatiani from Bolton CCG to discuss my campaign to re-open Bolton's NHS walk-in centre.

My petition has now passed 1,200 signitures and continues to grow. I'll be presenting this to Dr Bhatiani so please keep signing and sharing so that I can take as many voices of support as possible into that meeting.

Lots of people have chosen to share their opinions and their experiences with me since I started this petition. Below you can see a few of the comments left of my website that really help to highlight how important this facility is to the people of Bolton.

“I was at A and E with my daughter on Jan 5th – the busiest day A and E had. Staff were clearly overworked and were struggling to cope, but never once were we made to feel a burden, and my daughter received the best possible care. It shouldn’t have been like that though. There were far too many people walking into A and E that afternoon because they couldn’t get a GP appointment, for ailments such as headaches and sore throats. I fully back the campaign to reopen Lever Chamber”

“I miss the walk in centre with my son being disabled he could just pop in after having one of his many accidents. As it is he has just dislocated his knee in the town centre and would’ve found comfort their with professionals while waiting for the Ambulance.”

“When I worked for Bolton NHS Primary Care Trust the Walk in Centre at Lever Chambers HC functioned efficiently and evidence proved it reduced the number of A&E visits.”

“With the increasing strain on the NHS, its imperative that the people of Bolton and surrounding areas have an option to visit a walk in centre rather than tie up the Royal Bolton Hospital with minor incidents.”

“a & e should not be dealing with minor ailments. This could be alleviated by the re opening of the walk in centre”

“Bury still has a walk in centre, why doesn’t a town as large as Bolton have one?”

“This is definitely a service needed in Bolton. I have used this myself on a number of occasions and taken my children there. If someone is ill or injured, not life threatening, and they need to see someone urgently for medication or help, once their gp has closed there is nowhere to go. Walk in centre was a great service and was always busy, so must have been needed. Where does everyone go now that it is closed? People go to a+e as there is nothing else available.”

“There have been many occasions since the walk in clinic closed where I have had to wait over a week to get an appointment at my GP. Previously I would have been in and out of the walk in clinic in less than an hour.”
