This week I am joining forces with Citizen’s Advice and the Energy Savings Trust to highlight Big Energy Saving Week.

I know that the cost of gas and electricity is one of the biggest strains on family budgets. With winter approaching now is the time to start looking at ways to relieve some of that pressure.

Energy Saving Trust calculate that households could save an average of £300 a year by switching energy supplier, but many aren’t aware of this and mistakenly believe that they already have the best deal available.

Big Energy Saving Week encourages people to take three steps -; check, switch and save. Check your current tariff and compare it with other suppliers, before switching to a cheaper deal. Citizens Advice’s online energy price comparison tool is a useful resource for this.

Many of us could save simply by making a few small changes around the house. For helpful tips on how to cut your energy use visit the Energy Saving Trust website.

If you or someone you know is in receipt of pension credit then please take a look at the Warm Home Discount. Those eligible for the scheme have their winter bill reduced by £140.
