*EDIT 25/11/16 – I have just been informed by Network Rail that the work has not yet been completed and the closure will likely continue until Thursday 1st December*
Next week work will be underway to improve the train station at Bromley Cross. The level crossing will be upgraded, improved anti-trespassing equipment will be installed to stop people accessing the line, and the old worn out gates will be replaced too.
The work will be done at night, so the train service will not be affected. However you won’t be able to access the level crossing from Tuesday until Friday morning.
Unfortunately this will mean a longer walking route, so make sure you set out with plenty of time to catch your train. You can see the route in the image below, provided by Network Rail.
If you have mobility issues and are worried that the extra walk might be too much, there is a complimentary taxi service provided. Details of this service are below.
I’m pleased to see that Network Rail are investing in Bromley Cross station. I hope that we see more improvements in the near future. I will continue to push for increased railway capacity on local trains during peak times so that more members of the community can access this important public service.
