I was at Hall I’th’Wood Museum last Saturday morning to launch a very interesting new exhibition.
Local residents have researching the history of the estate stretching back more than 600 years. They’ve been through archives, held community events and used social media to reach out to former residents with stories about life in Hall I’th’Wood.
I was proud to open the exhibition as Hall I’th’Wood is part of my personal history too. Most of my working life was spent at Walmsley’s off Crompton Way where many of the local residents worked.
The “Our History” exhibition is free to the public and looks at the development of the estate and the changing way of life for local residents since the 1400s.
The exhibition will be running until 30th April at Hall I’th’Wood Museum, Green Way, Crompton Way. It is open between 10am and 4pm on Tuesdays and between 12pm and 4pm on Saturdays.
