I recently visited Tonge Fold Health Centre. I’ve been there before to talk to the GPs about local NHS services, but this visit was a bit different.
I was there to officially open a new photography exhibition celebrating life in Tonge and the Haulgh.
There are wonderful photos throughout the Health Centre taken by Bolton Camera Club. They’ve really captured the spirit of the local area, working with many local organisations and community groups – from the Tonge with the Haulgh community choir to the Thicketford Centre Yoga Group.
The project has been funded by the Big Lottery Fund, and Dr Scott tells me that the centre hopes to collaborate with them further and deliver new projects to improve the health and wellbeing of local residents.
It was a pleasure to open the exhibition and it’s certainly worth having a little walk around the health centre to take it all in.
